The Campus
(Former Historic Lenoir High School)
The Downtown Master Plan will include recommendations for the potential rehabilitation of the facilities located at the Historic Lenoir High School positioned on the edge of Downtown Lenoir. The property has recently been branded "The Campus," and the rehabilitation of these historic assets will provide the City and Downtown with a much needed event venue facility, including a 500-seat auditorium, a 10,000 square foot "flex-space" gymnasium, an outdoor recreation athletic field and potential music and arts venues housed in the Harper Band Building and the Masonry Building. The City recently purchased property adjacent to The Campus for the OVT Outdoor Pavilion/farmer's market and additional parking for this area.
The approximately 4.5-acre Campus is ideally situated to become an economic engine for Downtown as it is perfectly situated along the NPS Overmountain Victory National Trail (OVT), which runs through the heart of Downtown Lenoir. The Campus is also bordered by The Lenoir Mills historic mill redevelopment project. This 3- building redevelopment is situated on the edge of the LHS Mack Cook Field.
